NAME: Yosuke Hanamura
CANON: Persona 4: Golden
POINT IN CANON: After unlocking Naoto's Persona and dungeon crawlin'
AGE: 18
APPEARANCE: Here
CANON HISTORY: Here; Persona 4, Social Link & Persona 4 Golden sections.
CANON PERSONALITY:
Yosuke is a very relaxed guy who always seems to search for the enjoyable things in life. His head is always full of ideas for fun events so that he and his friend can enjoy the free time they get during school year. He's the guy in the group who keeps the mood up by always smiling or being goofy (sometimes unintentionally). He cares very much about his friends and wants them to be in the best spirits to face whatever's coming for them. Sometimes he's even viewed as being a little too nice and comforting others when he's not in the best moods himself. He is also admittedly very clumsy. There are moments when he ends up in the trash can, unable to get out.
As a normal teenage boy, Yosuke is also very fascinated by girls. Enough to devise a plan with charming ladies with their manly hormones through motorcycles. This may mostly be an act though as he's still recovering from his love for Saki; even commenting to Souji that he isn't looking for anything like that right now. He's also shown to be rather insensitive when it comes to other sexualities - sometimes being afraid of Kanji trying to hit on him and making jokes about Kanji's "guy type" even when it clearly bothers Kanji. It's not that he dislikes gay people, he just dislikes the thought of becoming a target of their flirting.
Yosuke's also very blunt and usually doesn't think before he says something, which results him into accidentally hurting someone's feelings. He always immediately regrets it and offers his apologies and tries to make it up somehow. He's also very quick to get into fights with his friends (namely Chie) which usually isn't very serious; but he might hold a grudge for the longest of times. Yosuke gets very easily emotional and when he gets into an argument he's very stubborn about getting his message cross - enough to actually say even things that might be very mean.
Despite appearing as upbeat as he does, even Yosuke has his serious sides. He has a high sense of justice, so he's one of the first to comment if something wrong is done and declaring he wants to do something about it. While a big part of jumping at the murder mysteries in Inaba was to feel the excitement and ease his boredom, he was also determined to get the killer caught because everything he did was just so wrong. One of the victims was very close to him, so every time he thought of the killer, he could feel his rage building up even beyond his sadness. He's also rather good at deduction and he's very determined to solve a problem even if it seems difficult (unless it's actually impossible). Unfortunately, even if he is rather smart, his emotional triggers and impulses often make him do not so smart things in the heat of the moment.
Despite the fact that his brain work well in solving mysteries, he seems to be constantly worried about his school grades. In no way is he stupid; he's just not very motivated about school.
Before facing his other self, Yosuke refused to admit that he's bored and that he disliked being in "the boonies" because there was absolutely nothing to do. With the help of Souji, he was able to face himself and acquire his Persona. He was able to admit that he did think that the place was boring and that he hated everything because he needed to leave his friends and the "big city" behind, but he also said that with the help of Saki Konishi (one of the case victims) he was able to start opening up. Along the way, he also admitted to Souji that he was afraid of being alone - being ignored by everyone and left outside which is why he always acted so carefree and tried to make people laugh.
Yosuke wanted to be a hero. To be special and have a meaning. With the year the worked on his case he realized that the minute they were born everyone was special to someone without even trying. This brought about realizing that he must have been jealous of Souji since he "had everything". He hadn't trusted Souji, because he thought they were the same, but he was able to do everything from the beginning. So they had a fist fight to become "equals" and Yosuke was able to grow as a person. He would hold the days he spent with his friends close to him and be true to himself.
POINT OF DEPARTURE:
It's been a month since peace had returned to Inaba and Souji Seta has left for the big city again. Yosuke Hanamura, Chie Satonaka and Yukiko Amagi started their third year, Kanji Tatsumi, Naoto Shirogane and Rise Kujikawa started their second and Teddie Hanamura started his first year at Yasogami High School.
One night, Yosuke happens to be awake on a rainy night, right around midnight. Without even thinking about it too much, he stares into the tv in his room. Of course he expects to see nothing, because the case was solved long ago, but something draws him to watch until the clock hits 00:00.
The tv lights up and something appears on it. Not only a silhouette like there normally would be at first, but an image of a very familiar, sleeping person, at a temple. He's being watched over by a very familiar Persona; Izanagi. There's no doubt this is Souji, the leader of their Investigation Team and Yosuke's best friend.
Before Yosuke can even think of reacting, he sees his own persona card flash in front of him and dive into the tv. Not long after his Persona, Takehaya Susano-o, joins Izanagi in watching over Souji. That's when Yosuke's own consciousness fades and he collapses on the floor.
Next day, he receives a phone call from a panicked Chie and the all decide to meet at Junes to discuss what happened. It seems everyone watched the Midnight Channel last night and had the same thing happen to them. They try entering the TV in June's electronic department, but only Teddie is able to do that. It would seem their Persona's are really gone.
While Teddie is in the TV they try contacting Souji and his relatives to find out that he's been missing for a few days already. There have been no signs of him after he came over to Inaba to meet with them. Of course Dojima and Nanako were the only ones informed as it was a surprise for the group.
Upon returning, Teddie explains there's really someone inside the TV, but no matter what he did, he couldn't even begin imagine where because the powers there are very different from before. With him being the only one with an access to the TV World, he decides that this isn't the time for him to sit here and decides to go back to his world to look for sensei. The others have no choice put to leave this to Teddie as they would all get immediately get exhausted in there without their Personas.
The same evening, Yosuke sits near the Samegawa River, thinking about the situation by himself. All of them promised to get together and figure out a plan, but what could they do without any powers? Yosuke feels frustrated over not being able to help Souji when it counts.
That's when Marie appears by his side and explains that they are helping Souji; their Personas are in fact protecting him by being his shield. Though even she cannot say why this has happened and she too, feels frustrated she couldn't prevent this. But there is one way she can help.
Marie takes Yosuke's hand and a light starts shining between them. A card with the number 0, the Fool, appears in front of Yosuke and goes inside of him. Marie then explains that Yosuke will have the same ability as Souji has and that he would be able to search for him with Teddie and her now. Yosuke asks why he got the ability and she explains it had to be Yosuke because of he was the first link Souji ever had.
The same night, Igor and Margaret invite Yosuke to the Velvet Room and explain everything they did for Souji. How the place can only be visited by him now, about Personas, and Social Links. It would seem that Yosuke will need to form the same links Souji had in order to restore the other's Personas. The hardest Social Link would be Yosuke himself; the Magician. Margaret warns him that he should not ignore it, as it was Souji's first. Yosuke asks how he'll manage a Social Link like that - but Margaret only smiles and Yosuke wakes up.
Next afternoon Yosuke and Marie explain what happened to the other group and after some discussion the two of them enter the TV World to meet up with Teddie and explain what's going on. They make a plan to search through the dungeons they already know - with Marie helping them as well. Of course in their world the team will search for any clues they might have by talking about Souji with other people and giving that information to Yosuke - as well as Naoto researching into Persona matters with the Kirijo group.
The Investigation Team is back in business. It would be up to Yosuke and Marie to fight through the dungeons, but at least they had their feelings with them (no matter how corny that sounded).
Of course, going to dungeons they've been to would be easier if Teddie remember all of their locations. First one they get into is Marukyu Striptease, the start of Teddie's (and Rise's) Persona. Most likely as the old team members get their Persona's back and are able to enter the tv, the more dungeons they get to unlock again.
There is one dungeon that comes to Yosuke's mind: Saki-senpais. After only finding a huge ass shadow in the strip club, the trio goes there to find the place has expanded - yet there's something blocking the way. The Magician arcana flashes in the barricade once Marie touches it. "Looks like we can't get through before you unlock it". That's easier said than done...
Of course, there are some reckless enough to demand they can go to the TV World without a Persona. That's a job left for one Naoto Shirogane, who comes in fully prepared and they do manage to unlock the Secret Hideout, but at the cost of Naoto exhausting himself and getting all the shadows to attack her... so they need to get her out and therefore everyone without a Persona is banned from the world except Marie and Teddie.
With Naoto's recklessness it seems Teddie got fired up and found them more dungeons to crawl in. This is great news...! And more work for Yosuke-
School still goes on and Yosuke tries his best to stay focused in class. This, however, is hard. It was hard enough last year and this year is even more demanding. Studying is also part of his day and sometimes he even gets called to the teache's office because of sleeping during class. Give him a break already!
On top of that he was gently forced by Margaret to join the clubs Souji was in to connect with people he knew. Basketball and Drama, anyone? Why hiiiiiiim.
"Canon point"
They had made progress in finding clues from the old dungeons: tarot cards. Each of them held a power that was still locked behind something, according to Marie. Even if Yosuke had opened the Hanged Man social link the tarot card remained still. They decided to keep them safe with Marie until they would be needed again. It was clear the cards had something to do with the captive Souji, but what? The world had gotten bigger and the mysteries started to pile up again.
Some progress was made on the human world side as well: Yosuke was able to reach out to Naoto, who's Persona also re-awakened. With her on the team, they would have more fighting power inside the tv world. Of course, Naoto was eager to get to investigating and they set off to find new clues and solve a mystery of the tarot cards.
The next dungeon they entered was Magatsu Inaba. Upon entering the dungeon, the air around the TV World changed. It wasn't the same kind of fog that surrounded the world before - it was more sinister and unpleasant. Despite that they kept going. Strong gusts of wind blew around, making it hard to see anything.
After the wind ended Yosuke was alone in the dungeon. He couldn't see or hear anyone - not even Teddie who had always been there. Yosuke had a bad feeling about this and he started running around to find the others as fast as possible.
ABILITIES: Yosuke is a Wild Card; one with the ability to wield different Personas. His abilities depend greatly on what Persona he has in use. His main Persona possesses wind magic, healing magic, some support spells and physical attacks. In total he has five different Personas in use.
INVENTORY; Kunai, defensive armor, Wing charm, Headphones, Yasogami High School Uniform

[What a way to end a jaunt and begin a liminal. Yosuke doesn't even remember when was the last time he was in a situation like this. He groaned, trying his best to get out of the trashcan so that he wouldn't have to ask for help and get himself embarrassed.
Well, he managed to get the trashcan to fall down... but he was still stuck. Freaking awesome.]
Hello...? Is anyone there? I'm kind of stuck.
[Please don't make him announce this to the whole network. That would be the end of him and he'd be laughed at for the rest of his life (even more than people laughed at him now).]
Anyone...?
